Change Your Backstory: Alexander Technique For Back Pain (Communiversity – Holistic Wellness ) #4152019
Back pain is one of the most common physical complaints regardless of age, occupation or fitness levels. Many treatments offer symptomatic help with the hope that breaking a ‘vicious cycle’ of pain will promote lasting relief, while others suggest strength-building regimens to brace core support. Alexander Technique takes a different approach that is self-empowering yet easier than most folks imagine. By learning to stop little-recognized postural habits that cause or aggravate musculoskeletal wear-and-tear and leveraging basic principles of motion, bearing and coordination, Alexander Technique students find that pain can be alleviated, relieved at onset or entirely prevented. In this four-week class we’ll learn to easily maintain the critical relationship between the head, neck and back that enables prolonged sitting, standing, walking and lifting without pain or compromise, and how to apply these new skills to any chosen activities. Students should bring a mat or a towel to lie down on.
